Obituary

Barbara Sara Bray Power, 83, of West Point, Georgia passed away on April 2,2019 at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. Mrs. Power was born in Rock Mart, Georgia on January 18, 1936 to the late Frank Bynon and Lula Mae Woodruff Bray.

Barbara graduated from Rosemont High School in LaGrange Georgia. After graduation she attended nursing school at the Medical Center (City Hospital) in Columbus, Georgia, where she graduated on September 12, 1957 along with her twin sister Betty Bray Russell with a three-year degree in Registered Nursing. Barbara faithfully served West GA Health Systems for 40 years where her legacy still lives on. In addition to family and WGHS family, Barbara and Tom were faithful members of Rosemont Baptist Church where they could always be found teaching their precious 4 & 5-year-old class. Upon retiring from WGHS, Barbara continued to work for Hoofers Restaurant along side her husband, brothers, and dear friends Rick and Bea Torrence until the restaurants closing many years later. Barbara was an avid sports fan and would spend many hours cheering on her favorite teams: The University of Georgia Bulldogs; the Atlanta Braves; and the Atlanta Falcons.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Deborah Bailey, Tracy (Chuck) Bain; son Charles (Wendy) Power; grandchildren Thomas Bailey, Amanda Green, Devin Power, Dillon Power, Taylor Ann Bain, Anna Grace Bain; great grandchildren Andrew and Caellum Bailey and Wyatt Chase; twin sister Betty Bray Russell, and sister-in-law Carol Bray.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Thomas F Power Jr.; parents Frank and Lula Mae Bray Jr.; grandchildren James and Nicole Pettus; sister Marion Smith; brothers Jerry Bray and Frank Bray III.

The family will greet friends on Saturday April 6, 2019 from 10:00 am EDT until 12:00 Noon EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett, Alabama. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 2:00 pm EDT at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia. Interment will follow the service at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange Georgia. Reverends Jeff McCartney and Max McCord will officiate.

The family has asked that memorial donations be sent to the "Youth Fund" at Reeds Chapel Baptist church.
