Franklin Arthur Whitley, 74 year-old resident of West Point, passed away, Thursday, January 24, 2019, at his residence.

The family will greet friends Monday evening, January 28, 2019, from 6:00 PM EST until 9:00 PM EST at Bluffton Funeral Services.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 2:00 PM EST from Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama. Reverends Darren White, Barry Golden and Jimmy Bowdon will officiate.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Whitley, the son of the late Lavonia Nellie Belle Kister and Thomas Terrell Whitley, was born on January 6, 1945. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley and sang Southern Gospel music for over 60 years, leading the choirs in several churches around the Valley. Mr. Whitley spent 38 years as an agent with American General Life Insurance Company. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany from 1961 until 1964. Mr. Whitley loved traveling and dining.

Survivors include his daughters, JoAnn Earls, (Michael) of LaGrange, Georgia and Carol Jones (John) of Mansfield, Georgia; his two sons, Timothy Whitley (Susan) of LaGrange, Georgia and David Whitley (Shari) of Austin, Texas; his sisters, Margaret Henderson of Opelika, Alabama and Dorothy Thompson (Billy) of Bowdon, Georgia; his brother in law, 6 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Whitley is preceded in death by his step mother, Avis Whitley, his sisters, Edna Smith, Daisy Pitts and Patricia Whitley, his brother, Thomas T. Whitley, Jr., his brothers-in-law, Dennis Smith, Dewey (Red) Henderson, Herbert Haney, his step-grandson, Chris White.
