James (Jim) Monroe Wheat,83, of Lanett, Alabama passed away at his residence on September 6, 2021. James was born on March 25, 1938 in In Coker(Tuscaloosa County)Alabama to the late Cleveland and Earnestine Wheat.

He is survived by four daughters: Brenda Bailey (Jeff) of Panama City Beach, Florida; Suzie Britt (Donnie) of Valley, AL; Cheryl Farr (Wendell) of Cusseta, AL; RoxAnne Henderson (Todd) of Arab, AL; Sisters Peggy McManus of Lanett, AL; Ruby Harper of Beauregard, AL; one brother Cleveland Wheat of Lanett, AL; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years June Wheat, his parents Cleveland Wheat Sr and Earnestine Wheat, brother Robert Wheat, grandson Adam Spires and granddaughter Dorothy June Workman.

Jim was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served in parts of the US and Canada. After time in the Air Force he came home to Atlanta where he met his soul mate June. They married after dating about a year. They lived in Atlanta until 1969 when they moved to Lanett, Alabama where Jim went to work for Uniroyal and was a faithful employee for 25 years. After retiring from Uniroyal he went to work at Letica in Lanett where he worked for 10 years, then retired for good at that point.

He took care of his family faithfully and always found a way to give to any that needed his help. He was a member of Plant City Baptist church.

The family will greet friends for visitation on Thursday, September 9, 2021, 11:00 am EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett, Alabama followed by funeral services in the chapel of Bluffton Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon EDT. Graveside Services will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama.

Dr. Todd Henderson and Rev Brad Reed will officiate.

Services have been entrusted to Bluffton Funeral Services, Lanett, Alabama.
