When his daughters were younger and in school, he was known to many of their friends as "Flashlight Ed" as an active volunteer to the Valley Teen Club or as "Captain Ed" as the President of the Athletic Club at Springwood School. He was a member of the Jaycees and an advisor to their Junior Achievement Program. Until recently, Ed enjoyed playing golf with his daughters and looked forward to his bi-annual fishing trips to Florida with his son-in-law, grandsons and great grandson.

Ed leaves behind two daughters, Kathy Chamberlin (Fayetteville, GA) and Janet/Ricky Moore (Jacksonville,AL), four grandchildren Fred Chamberlin/Beth Edwards (LaGrange, GA), Jamie Moore (Jacksonville, AL), Dee/Richard Epton (Williamson, GA) and Rick/Lana Moore (Elmore, AL), three great grandchildren Joshua Epton (Williamson, GA), Jackson Moore (Elmore, AL), and Bennett Moore (Elmore, AL), and many nieces and nephews.
