Ronnie Rutland, 79, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at home.

Ronnie was born in West Point, Georgia on April 13, 1942, to the late Bessie Samuels. He graduated from West Point High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in August of 1970. Ronnie spent the better part of his life working at Hayes Hardware and Sporting Goods in Valley, Alabama. He faithfully attended Lanier Baptist Church.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Samuels and his brother, Gene Rutland. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Estes (Earl), a sister-in-law Faye Rutland; several nieces and nephews, along with great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Ronnie enjoyed shopping, fishing in the Okeefenokee Swamp and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM EST at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, Georgia. Rev. Mike Hawkins will be officiating.

Flowers will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made to Compassus Hospice of Roanoke.

Services have been entrusted to Bluffton Funeral Services, Lanett, Alabama.
