Rev. Jerry Ledbetter

Funeral Assistant & Grief Counselor

Rev. Gerald W. (Jerry) Ledbetter, has over 33-years of experience in vocational Christian ministry, including youth and music ministry positions. After serving as a pastor in rural Troup County, Georgia for a decade, Jerry began his ministry with the West Point Presbyterian Church in 2003. He attended Auburn University, LaGrange College, Emory University (Candler School of Theology), and the Erskine Theological Seminary.

Jerry is deeply committed to the West Point community, where he serves on multiple boards and collaborates with various service organizations. He was elected to the West Point City Council in 2011, a position he continues to hold, having served as Mayor pro tem in 2013, and again in 2023.  With decades of experience as a grief counselor, Jerry has been a valuable asset to former funeral homes such as McCarthy Funeral Home, Bluffton Funeral Services, and now the new Valley-Point Funeral Home & Cremation.

Jerry served on the Operational Ministry Team (Board-of-Directors) for one of the largest Presbyteries in the United States from 2010-2013, and also served as an Evangelism Facilitator for that same Presbytery for nearly a decade. He currently serves on the MPT (Ministry Partnership Team) of the Presbytery of the South. Jerry also serves as the Chaplain for the Order of the Tartan of the Chattahoochee Valley (2017-present).

Besides preaching and teaching, Jerry enjoys history, kayaking, painting, golf, bowling, playing the dulcimer, spending time with family & friends - and attending college sports events... especially the Auburn Tigers (War Eagle)!

In 2007, Jerry published his first book entitled "Words of Life: God's Providential Grace Displayed Through the Life of One Man." His second book (published in 2012) is entitled “The Church of the Covenant: A History of the West Point Presbyterian Church.” His third book (still set to publish) is entitled "Words of Hope: A Collection of Encouraging Messages Offered in a Time of Anxiety and Grief."

Jerry is married to Tammy Whitten Ledbetter, a teacher with the Chambers County School System (Alabama), and together the Ledbetter's have three grown sons: and eight grandchildren (Shadow Alexandria, Madyson Lee, Tristyn Maddox, Greyson Reid, Landyn Michael, Madelyn Claire, Max Henley , and Masyn Bennett).
